Presenting digidog

The last few months I have been working on the group project called Digidog. The assignment was to consider how we could improve the social cohesion in a bad neighbourhood by doing 'something' with IT. This 'something' became an interactive display, on which you could control your digital pet by using the controls of your mobile phone (using a j2me application). These digidogs can be personalised by giving more information about yourself (like your interests). If you later return back to the interactive display, you can't only earn credits by playing mini-games or to help each other, but you can see what you and your neighbour have in common. The idea behind this is that by giving people information and to let play together (in a physical space), the barrier to make contact with one another is limited, and the chance for positive feelings to each other is improved.

I mainly was responsible for the back-end of the website and the part the flash-bluetooth communication.

The supporting website can be found at: http://digidog.dustyfrog.nl and photos of the installation will come later.

Back

After a full semester of hard work… I am trying to bring some life back into my blog. I have some ideas to review some software, and write some articles about writing components for Flex. Stay tuned!
